The first issue of Diabetes Voice in 2017 focuses on initiatives that are helping to advance the urgency for action in diabetes prevention, care, access and advocacy for the rights of people with diabetes worldwide.

Articles featured include:

  • Strengthening Early Action for Diabetes Prevention and Care - The Berlin Declaration represents the extreme urgency for global diabetes action today. Developed by a global forum of diabetes experts and stakeholders, the Declaration has been ratified by experts from 38 countries and launched in 2016 to stimulate more meaningful policies at the national level and drive action for local platforms.
  • IDF Congress 2017: Extensive Global Network Prepares to Assemble - IDF 2017 will host a world class scientific program in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Congress will be comprised of nine streams, advancing knowledge in fields such as complications of diabetes, education, technology and new areas including Diabetes in Women and Children.
  • New IDF Network represents the Global Voice of Diabetes - This new IDF initiative will focus on a variety of issues and challenges that people with diabetes encounter in our world today. Blue Circle Voices (BCV) will act as the global voice of people living with diabetes through a global network of members and other valuable stakeholders.
  • IDF to publish Clinical Practice Recommendation on the Diabetic Foot - IDF is producing a new guide to help diabetes healthcare professionals better manage the threat of diabetic foot disease in their patient populations. It is estimated that up to 85% of the one million amputations occurring each year are preventable.
