In order to enhance knowledge about diabetes among health professionals and provide preventive information and good control for people living with diabetes, the Mexican Federation of Diabetes, AC (FMD) held its XXVII Congress from 26 to 28 March 2015 in the port of Acapulco, Guerrero.

The National Congress of FMD is divided into two programs, one aimed at specialists and health professionals, and one oriented towards the needs of patients with diabetes and their families.

The main topics to be addressed by national and international experts are:

• Epidemiology of Diabetes, Diabetes in childhood
• Genetics of diabetes in Mexico
• Management of insulin in hospitalized patients
• Diabetic foot
• New options in the treatment of diabetes
• Diabetes education and emotional aspects
• Nutrition Topics

The educational program, aimed at people living with diabetes, topics include diabetes education, foot care, skin and mouth, nutrition, addiction treatment and hypoglycemia, among others.
