This guide highlights the rising prevalence of diabetic-related eye disease, particularly diabetic retinopathy, and outlines the actions that can be taken to address it. The primary audience for this document is the broad suite of health professionals and people who care for people with diabetes.

By providing information about eye disease as a potential complication of diabetes, this guide encourages and facilitate early diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye disease, in particular diabetic retinopathy, as well improving care for people with diabetes through encouraging integration and co-operation across the health system.
